Powers of Attorney
An enduring power of attorney appoints someone to take care of your affairs when you are no longer able to do so.
This document can help your family to assist you in the event that your health deteriorates as it will allow the attorney to deal with your affairs as if they were you (within limitations that are imposed by law and by you). You will need to appoint someone that you trust implicitly to take control of your affairs should this be necessary in the future. Having an enduring power of attorney can help to make life a little easier for everyone involved should you need it. There are two different types of enduring power of attorney, one applies to your personal care and welfare and the other applies to your property, which also includes bank accounts and all other assets. Please contact us to discuss tailoring an enduring power of attorney to meet your requirements and we can send you a draft power of attorney form (or request this via our Contact Us area). Please see attached further information from the New Zealand Law Society on the process – “Powers of Attorney” |
